I can't listen to anything before I was born. Or watch... sometimes read. I don't know why but I have no interest in it. It's like going to a party where you don't know anyone, nor were you even invited.
When I first started in radio in high school, I worked for a low-power local station that played 50s, 60s, 70s and selected 80s. I have to say, some of my favorite artists/groups are of that time period. Bob Seger, Joe Cocker, Steve Miller Band, Jim Croce, Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, etc... Speaking of Billy Joel, that was the first big concert I ever went to that was really someone I wanted to see. It was the 1994 River of Dreams tour, and it was fantastic. Prior to that, I had been to a ton of Jimmy Buffett shows and seen random country acts, but Billy Joel was the first concert that was my pick! I got tickets for Valentine's Day from my dad. For being 10 years old, that was pretty awesome!
when i was 10, i listened to hanson.
seriously, wish i could see billy joel live.
Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead for sure! And incase you all didn't know...

Yeah, impossible to pick and choose, but some of mine at The Police, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Elvis (I think I got that from my grandma) and basically, whatever falls into the classic rock category (Pink Floyd, The Stones, Def Leppard...you know) and I've been recently digging Black Sabbath for some reason.

Ha, start 'em out early...that's gonna be my philosophy when I have kids!
Yeah, my parents have always been really fantastic with encouraging my interest in music. I started going to concerts when I was 3 years old (Juice Newton, anyone??), and hit up my first Jimmy Buffett show when I was 4. FYI: In 1988, Jimmy Buffett shows were a lot more family friendly.
I'm a firm believer that being exposed to music at a young age helps things such as memory, reading/comprehension, and creativity. Ok, that sounded like some Save the Music PSA...
I truly believe most of the greatest music ever was recorded in the 60s and the years surrounding it. I love love love the Beatles, Elvis, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, CCR, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac, Tim Buckley ("Once I Was" is one of the most eerie, moving songs of all time)...the list goes on. My parents were always very supportive of me and all the live shows I wanted to go to. When I was little, I was always with them at Summerfest seeing shows, and when I got old enough to decide on my own what I wanted to see (starting at like, 12), they would drive me and a friend to different cities to see the shows. I was never spoiled, ever, but that is something they always indulged me in (I always had to pay for my own ticket, of course
). I've been to a LOT of concerts, but one of the most moving was when I saw Paul McCartney live in 2005. Hearing some of those Beatles songs live from the person who wrote them was almost more than I could take at times. Bon Jovi was fun. And while in NYC on my honeymoon, we went to a jazz club and saw Les Paul perform and then got to meet him afterwards. That's right, the man who pretty much invented the electric guitar. It was quite thrilling.
If you are in to classic rock and you want a GREAT music vacation, first go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. It is AWESOME. Memphis was the best vacation I ever took; Sun Records, Graceland, Stax Recording Studio, Beale Street, Civil Rights Museum (ok, not music, but truly something to see). So much music stuff to see even if you aren't a fan of Elvis (but you might just be after the trip). Its where Rock and Roll was born!

That was HILARIOUS. That guy does a REALLY good impression....especially of a man everyone thinks they can imitate.
Growing up my dad listened to the Rolling Stones and my mom listened to Bonnie Rait so that's what I listened to.. I really liked Kenny Loggins... he had a song about Poo. Poo bear. Not excrement.
i always thought i liked the beatles but most of their songs just dont...do it for me. i love certain songs but i cant listen to them steady too much.
just because i want to, a few other favorites are the doobie brothers, fleetwood mac, heart, led zeppelin..and yeah, most classic rock stuff. i think that might be why im not a huge fan of the beatles... its not really heavy enough for what i like. my dad obviously doesnt like the beatles much since he has none of them albums...and hes a huge classic rock fan (he was at the george thorogood show when i went to the same show for sk6, lol, funny fact), so i think thats kind of where i get it from.
none of THEIR*** lol, wow
also forgot madonnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and three dog night, for some reason. dont know how thats possible.... but yeah.
