Is this a new SK song?? I heard it for the first time at Club Passim at the 10 o'clock show and I really liked it. Anyone have a recording of it??

    It's a Bob Dylan cover.

It seems like everyone under the sun has covered it--from Dylan to Joan Baez and from the Byrds to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (my personal fave! haha!)! Such a great song...

Oh, I wasn't being all, "you should know this," about You Ain't Goin Nowhere. Hope you didn't take it that way...

If you're interested in having a recording of it, I would tell you to download the two Tin Angel Shows (12.29) that went up on Archive last week. A.) They've been recorded really well B.) They're great shows C.) They feature You Ain't Goin Nowhere, Rag Mama Rag (cover of The Band's song) and We're Getting Nuthin' for Christmas

I looked at this for a long time and tried to figure out what "going know here" meant. We need the ol' spell check back in here... :)

listening to the original is a little painful to me.
i love the covers of it so much more.

    sue me.

(in my humble, unbiased opinion our version is the best.)
the one we did with nathanson on the rock boat was brilliant.

I've never been a huge Dylan fan. Not to take away from his artistry or amazing writing abilities, but...

I must say, on the topic of covers, I've always liked The Byrds version. Their version, in my opinion, was the first to resemble what we hear today.

That being said, I love the version we heard at the winter shows--it is fantastic!

I really like Dylan, but this just isn't one of his best... he's pretty good with the metaphorical language, but this one sure has some crazy lyrics. One day when I was looking up the words I found the following website with some alternate verses and drafts of verses that didn't make the final version... there's some pretty funny stuff on there...
    Here's the site... http://homepage.mac.com/danielmartin/Dylan/html/songs/Y/YouAintGoinNowhere.html
