soo because im new here, and um...bored... and kind of dont know anything about anyone here (unless you post on hanson.net, then i probably know you)... i figured id start with a basic question... so yeah. and if you feel desire to talk about your job at all, please do.

and if you do post on hanson.net, dont roll your eyes when i mention where i work because... i talk about work alot over on hnet. okay so yeah, im in a crazy mood (reason to be later said) and im probably going to regret making this post tomorrow.

ANYWAY, i work at starbucks. its fun, i guess. not really, but the free pound of coffee a week, free drinks on shifts and 30% off drinks when im not working keeps me around and all worth it. addicted? little bit  ...and the reason im in a crazy mood is probably because im hyped up on caffeine...yeah, my life.

Ah! The grad student joy :) Do you have a dissertation that you're working on?

I'm currently in an MA program and I think this will probably be the end of the (academic) road for me.

I'm a nanny. I take care of a 4 year old and a 5 year old for 50 hours/week...it's a tough job sometimes but I love it (which is why I've been with this family for 4 years now!)

When I was at UMass, way back when SK was still riding solo, I was his tour manager for a couple of runs (B.C., Before Cousin), but now I'm an IT guy and district webmaster for Wareham Public Schools. Sweet downgrade :|

Wareham Public, huh? Nice. hahaha... I grew up in Plymouth and we'd only go over to Wareham for Water Wiz and on our way to the Cape.

I now live in Boston and work for State Street Bank. It's pretty much the sweat shop of the financial industry. I'm a glorified monkey/button pusher, or an account manager if we're getting technical here. I also have a part time gig at the Cottonwood Cafe in the Back Bay. We have yummy margaritas so if anyone's in the city on the weekends and is feeling thirsty stop in and say hi! (I recommend the Traditional on the rocks with salt)

Go UMass! Ahh the memories of Travelling Matt and many a night at McMurphys.

I work for a city as an urban planner. I help with property development issues (new construction, additions, expanding roads, etc), as well as community development and housing issues.

Oops - didn't see how old this thread was. Sorry!

No need to apologize! I never replied to it either....

I am a 9th grade English teacher (first year). Today is the last day before winter break. Think back to high school and imagine the day before winter break and how you acted. Yeah, that is what my day has been like. Haha. In reality, I love it......most of the time. We are talking about 14/15 year-olds here.

I'm a Project Manager for a company that designs and installs building automation systems, and about six months away from finishing my MBA. Aaaand I also get into some web design projects on the side.

Is it true that Starbucks' baristas cannot tell the customer 'no'? A guy from one of my grad school classes told everyone that if a customer decides that he or she just wants to pay $1 for a latte, that a barista technically cannot say no. :)
