Ok, I need help. I am currently making my "please play" list for a my DJ for my wedding reception in June. Of course, I need some SK6ers, although I am stuck on what songs to choose. My only definite is Diamond so far. Help! What songs would go over well at a wedding reception? What ones would people dance to? Any ideas? Thanks!!

For a slow dance, what about "Girlfriend As Pretty As You", "Such A Way", or "Flower in Rain". For a fast one, maybe "Start the Day Early"? Good luck! And Congrats on the upcoming wedding!

Congratulations! Another possible slow one is Keep Me in Your Thoughts. Maybe Start the Day Early or Anthem for faster ones?
If you type "Stephen Kellogg wedding" into youtube two short videos come up of him playing acoustic at someones wedding... How cool would that be?

Uh yeah, I have watched those videos and have been insanely jealous everytime I watched. Lucky girl!!
Thanks for the ideas, and the congrats. I was thinking Start the Day Early, too. Not one of my personal favorites, but I know it would go over GREAT at a reception.

Girlfriend as Pretty as You would be a great one... & maybe (if we get one soon) a studio version of Satisfied Man?

My sister just got engaged on her vacation, and when they got back, my future brother in-law's first words to me was that now we have an excuse to see if they play weddings.
As far as your wedding/reception is concerned (congrats!), as far as slow songs are concerned, the problem is that you have too many to choose from. For fast songs that I could see being a "danceable" song at a reception would be: Maria, Vegas, Glassjaw Boxer, Cabin in the Woods, Blue Jean, and You Win.
If none of those work, you can always play the footloose cover. That song is always a hit at weddings, and their version is hilarious on top of it.

I've heard Stephen say that Big Easy is a song that fits well into the Summer and it is about being with your friends (I had never really thought about it that way, but I swear, he said this at the Indy show on Fathers Day '07). It might be a fun end-of-the-night song for you and your attendants.
At my wedding, among my requests were the Glen Phillips/John Mayer version of "Celebration" (what can I say, my friends and I loved that song our Junior and Senior years of HS, and throughout college) and "Little Miss Magic" by Jimmy Buffett (for my Dad's and my dance), so I'm definitely sure that your requests won't seem out of line at all!
Congrats!

I think Milwaukee is a good rock-out song. I always rock out to it, anyway... especially in my car.

Oh man that is a GREAT idea. Thanks! It might be a fun end-of-the-night song for you and your attendants.
mrpx...those are great suggestions...I kinda forgot about Maria. Think I will definitely add that.
Thanks again, everybody.

i know this isnt a sixers song. but Gavin Degraw's More than Anyone is amazing and i think it would be a great slow song for a wedding

I just got to reading this and I have no input haha, but at that wedding Stephen was playing ...it was a member of O.A.R.'s road crew. I totally forgot what he does and I don't even think he's with them anymore, but in the one video you can see Benj, the bassist, in the background
.

okay, i know this isn't a SK6ers song, but "By The Way They Dance" by Jump, Little Children (available on iTunes) is a total wedding worthy song.

Haha, thanks for all the suggetions, everybody! Not only did I successfully make a must play list entirely of songs they probably have never heard of, but I convinced my finacee for our first dance to be to "Diamond!" And, my attendants are walking down the aisle to my future father in-law playing "Diamond" on the acoustic guitar (as well as "Never Going Back Again" by Fleetwood Mac and "In My Life" by The Beatles).

No prob! My only word of advice is to take a minute to enjoy the day with your friends--it all goes by too fast!
Congrats!
