This Might Be The 1st Tour (Kinda Rant Alert) LOL

In 4 years that I may pass on. I hate park west, not at all a fan of Carbon Leaf, and the only other show that I'd be able to get to is just a solo opening gig by SK at some place that I think is sitting only lol (been there done that and it really isn't fun).

Then there's the whole thing of me taking a stand this year on absurd shipping rates, so I'm not ordering the album lol.

I know getting way too picky and it's no ones fault but mine. Usually my love of the Sixers forces me to get over that stuff and support them. With money being tighter I don't see that happening this time around, though.

Also, maybe it's not just because of the money, it's partly because the last tour did leave me with bad taste in my mouth. Whether it was bad venues because it was a sauna, shit employees, or drunk assholes. I know some of you know what I'm talking about since I read about your bad experiences here on this board. Its not fun to put up with what seems to be an increasing number of non fans that show up cause tickets are still reasonable, and then drink too much because what the fuck do they care. Which in turn puts SK in a bad mood, because he inevitably and understandably will tell everybody to shut the fuck up cause they're being rude assholes which tends to kill the good time, if you were having a good time to begin with.

    Anyhow I'm just saying...

PS I love the new format of the Website.

If you're looking to avoid shipping charges on the album, I'm sure it will be available on i-tunes. I rarely buy cd's anywhere else anymore (unless it's at a show) b/c it is cheaper without taxes and stuff. The Sixers are an exception since I want a hard copy, so I'll be pre-ordering mine.

I get annoyed with people at shows sometimes too, but I know I always have fun at an SK6 concert regardless of anything else. I can get past it all pretty easily and enjoy the music and show. I'm never disappointed that I went and always walk away with a smile.

I'm sorry you feel that way :| regardless I think you should still go to the show! I agree with you I absolutely hate when drunk fans (or like you said non fans!) ruin the show for me but like Britney said the SK6ers put on such great shows, don't limit yourself to seeing a great band just because of some losers in the crowd. Plus like you said the tickets are really reasonable so its not like you'd be losing out on a ton of money. Is it a far drive for you? I can see what your saying but I still think you should go to the show and see how it turns out, try getting up front where the true fans usually are I think that may help a bit! I hope you decide to go :)

I know what you mean with everything you said. I'm lucky enough to be somewhere that I can reasonably drive a few hours to see them but it can be rough. I saw them in Sellersville, PA earlier this summer and SK called these two drunkards out... more than once. They eventually sobered up and went to sit somewhere in the back (from some seats right next to the stage) and the show really came alive. It sucks someones good time can be ruined by a few individuals. a

yeah i'm broke and live in the middle of nowhere, so i dont even have a choice really. i guess i'll just buy the album (probably twice, since i pre ordered it and then i will likely buy it on itunes if it doesnt get here on time lol)...and then of course, see them in january on the boat.

it makes me want to cry because i never get to see any of my favorite artists, but i really really need to just get over it... there are worse things.

Yeah I hear what your guys are saying. I think it's Chicago more then anything. 2 out of the 3 last shows I enjoyed the Sixers but everything else was crap. Maybe I should go out of state. IN and WI shows have always been great all around.

Yeah. I'm with you on this one. Maybe I'll pony up the dough and just head to the Iron Horse show? I really don't want to deal with driving to Chicago, when I could just fly out East. Maybe that's bad logic... ;)

Come to WI Ang! The Milwaukee show is at the place they played last year (Shank Hall). Its pretty small and really low key. Room to stand or sit comfortably, whichever you prefer. It was a GREAT time last year. I understand what you are saying about Chicago. Out of 5 shows last tour, those 2 were the only ones there were ANY problems. SK had to tell people to shut up during Serena Ryder's set AND his own. Grr.

I think I am only going to go to Madison and Milwaukee. I'm just not a fan of the whole "co-headlining" thing. I'm still looking forward to seeing them again...it's been a long time.

I remember back in the day when Chicago shows were so awesome... sigh. I'm kind of bummed they're "opening" for Tyrone Wells for the West Coast dates... Co-headlining would at least mean more Sixers!! I'm still going, though, because any live Sixers stuff is good when I haven't seen them since NYE!

Yeah, it seemed to me they always did pretty well on the West Coast... sold out Seattle shows two years in a row & had good crowds at the San Francisco & Portland shows... & Spokane went crazy for them last year! Maybe it's easier cost-wise, who knows. I just want more Sixers, haha.

I wasn't at their last Chicago shows, but that venue is awful, so I'm not surprised to hear the shows weren't the best. I love the Park West though.

Yeah I don't wanna shell out money for a co-headline tour. I don't give a shit about Carbon Leaf. Right now I'm definitely going to the Iron Horse because it's only an hour away from School. If I have money I may go the 2 hours to see them at The Egg in Albany but there's no way I can afford to drive all the way home to ROC to see them on Halloween this year. Especially for just an hour and a half show.

Hey Guys...It's SK. This is the exact sort of thread that I love to see because it gives me a chance to explain some of the decisions that we make and why. First off you guys should know how much your enthusiasm and dedication to our music means to us. Sometimes we get burnt out or busy and don't adaquately express how much people like you, who post on boards and discuss the group with each other, mean to us. So thanks!

As far as the Co-Headline/support thing, etc. Here is the deal. For the most part, we agree with you that some of the venues we play kind of suck. That is the reason for co-headlines. To go out and have an oppurtunity to play to some new people. Same with supporting Tyrone on the West Coast. We do pretty well out there, but rather then play to 300 people, if we can play to 700 or more, it gives us a chance to make some new fans. Now we LOVE headlining, it's such a thrill for us and you may wonder why we even need the "new fans"...The answer is so that we can take this whole thing to our dream level which is nice, classy THEATERS. The type Wilco and Ryan Adams play...where the audience can have an intimate experience but we can still rock out when we want to etc..It's not about 'being famous' or any of that, it's about wanting a great experience for our fans and ourselves. In the case of Carbon Leaf and Tyrone they're both hard working, really nice bands whose music we happen to like and whose fans we believe will hopefully dig what we do. We'll get back out to West Coast as soon as we can and same with headline world...

Sometimes that means that you have to play a shorter set and it's not as ideal, but that's what you do cause you're trying to grow the whole thing to a nice place. It's SUCH a bummer when the shows don't go right or the venue isn't to peoples liking and I'm definately reading that a fair amount of people didn't dig the last Chicago venue...sorry, bad call on our teams part. I thought it was OK, but you're right-not my fave.

Now as for shipping fees etc. Hopefully you can buy it in Best Buy or Borders. We're not (as you well know)
a huge band so sometimes you gotta ask for it and tell them -"YO you need to carry this record" if they don't. Ditto we can't force the music on you..but we believe in it more then ever, are in a great headspace and hope that what we do and the decisions we make will be ones to keep you involved with SK6ERS for a long time coming...

As far as sitting, standing, etc..just sussing out the venue. I love when people are having fun, I'm a rocker in a lot of ways at heart. Sometimes chatter makes it hard to connect with people, and I'm human so I do get fried on it, but it's always a bummer to me cause all I want, and we want is for everyone to leave the show feeling better then they came in.

Thanks for caring and for sharing your thoughts. They are always welcome...even when it's just that you didn't have a great experience at a show or something..we do want to know and we do our best to keep it cool for everyone.

As far as the concerns about the CO-Headline tour.

Middle set will play an hour, closing set will play 70 minutes, both bands will do the encore together. We'll be kicking as much ass as humanly possible while we're up there and in Chicago, we happen to be closing that night (we flip and flop but will both be playing the last set the same amount of times)..

Thanks SK. Seeing the Sixers at The Somerville Theater is the dream for me, so I can't complain.

Kids, we're lucky to love a band full of nice people who love us back.

Well presented and fair argument SK. I'm seeing three shows in a row (the State college one and the 2 in Philly) so hopefully I can see the sixers play the last set twice in three days. Now that would be ideal. keep rockin ha!
