new album for free! i love it.
the download won't work for me. and i've tried multiple times!!
EDIT: one of my friends sent it to me! listening now!
I was wondering if there were any Damnwells fans here, i'm glad that there are! I was going to make a thread about the new album, but you beat me to it so now i'll just contribute.
I downloaded the album.. I was somewhat (just somewhat) disappointed. The Damnwells are one of my all time favorite bands, I have all of their albums, tons of live shows etc. Basically I think Alex Dezen is a lyrical genius and I worship the musical ground he walks on... I had already heard about half the songs on this album and thought they were great. Bastard of Midnight was probably my favorite song of the summer.. but as I listened to the album I was somewhat underwhelmed, I felt like none of the songs really lived up to their full potential. Jesus Could Be Right was one of the songs I already had and I was really excited when I saw that it was on the album, but after I heard it I felt like it was rushed..
Don't get me wrong, I still think everyone should listen to One Last Century, and I do think its great, it's just not what I was expecting. I've listened to it about 11x now and I have grown to really like it. It's funny because when I first heard Glassjaw Boxer I was also a bit underwhelmed but then It became one of my favorite albums.. I guess that how it goes sometimes..
I also think that Angela Dezen is a GREAT addition to the Damnwells and the songs that feature her on backup vocals sound terrific.
So everyone should download the album. The Damnwells are a great band who deserve tons of recognition and Alex Dezen is an excellent and awfully creative writer.
this was honestly my first real exposure to them. i've heard them before but never owned any of it. with that said, i love it, and plan to invest in as much more as i possibly can. and now i can't wait to hear the older stuff!
Sarah you won't be disappointed! I also think that's exactly what Alex hoped to accomplish by making this album be available for free.
I suggest starting with Air Stereo, the band's last album, I love all the songs on it.
a few people have recommended air stereo, so i think i'll be getting that one soon.
i've heard OF them before but never heard them. I figured what better way to start than a FREE album??
I've listened once so far and I think I'm in love.
i cant stop listening! really.
i came across tonight & forever. and now i'm REALLY in love with them.

Thanks!
finally got to see The Damnwells a few weeks ago at TT the Bears. AMAZING! can't believe i've been missing out for so long.
Just saw them for the first time this weekend in Atl. They were great- they had everyone singing along and they had some diehard fans there. For an Atlanta show, they were mindblowing. The fact that any crowd pays attention in that city is no small thing. I just bought their older stuff, love it!
