Ha so I'm at work and have access blocked to a lot of sites (work in a school...) including youtube. I can get the 37 second clip of "Shady" though from the SK6ERS site. So I took a crack at the lyrics for the verse...

smiling and sun baked i get jealous of myself
like shady esperanto and the young hearts carousel
the hardest part has always been to resurrect my soul
lightning in my youth and the new suade (or noose way?)
    just got old ----old
I never wanna get old (x2)

    and you try (et.al.)

Ay other interpretations? The first and fourth lines are a bit tricky.

For the 4th line, I hear "lightning in my youth and the newest way just got old..."

SK drops word-final /t/ a lot. (Oooh, everyday use of linguistics!)

Here's a shot at the whole thing. I'm a little unsure on the first line.

Lilac god release me from the stinging queen bee
Help me to forget about the lions chasing me
If a man among us has the notion that he’s free
I entreat you to the challenge stand on up and let’s see
You get old… I never wanna get old

Smiling and sun baked I get jealous of myself
Like Shady Esperanto and the young hearts carousel
The hardest part has always been to resurrect my soul
Lightning in my youth and the newest way just got old…

It got old… I never wanna get old…

And you try and you try…
    But you can’t try enough

But you keep fighting, you keep on fighting me
You keep on fighting, don’t you know you already won

Summer in the city we were hanging on the lawn
Talking all the time about where the time had gone
It’s not the way I thought it’d be; it’s not what I was told
I’ve got a young heart and I don’t wanna get old

I never wanna get old… You get old…
I never wanna get old… I’m never gonna get old

And you try and you try…
    But you can’t try enough

A note -- because I think it's right but it was new to my vocabulary --
    en·treat
    transitive verb
1: to plead with especially in order to persuade : ask urgently <entreated his boss for another chance>
2 archaic : to deal with : treat

    Thoughts?

Haha I did this at work. Unsure of first line as well.

Lilac eyes release me from the stinging queen bee
help me to forget about the lions chasing me
if a man among us has the notion that hes free
i entreat you to the challenge stand on up and lets see
    you get olddddd

    And you try, tryyy...

    But you cant try enough
    But you keep fighting
    You keep on fighting me
    You keep on fighting
Don't you know you already won?

The thunder in the city we were hanging on the lawn
Talking all the time about where the time had gone
It's not the way I thought it'd be it's not what I was told
I got a young heart and I don't wanna get
Oldddd I never wanna get old (repeatx8)

    And you try (x6)
    But you can't try enough

I think the first line might be...

Lilac eyes release me from the stare of (sting of) the queen bee

Although, its impossible to be positive, that part is so fast!

I can hear lilac eyes, but I think "the stare of the queen bee" is too many syllables.

maybe it's "blinded in my youth"? i dunno. lightning just doesn't sound right to me. but i can't tell.

i think this is right, with the sting of, not stare of. i definitely hear an ing sound, not an are sound.

and after reading the lyrics all together (even though most of them are easy to figure out just by listening) i think i love the song even more, lol....if thats possible.

i think blinded would be the obvious choice and it makes more sense... but i think i hear lightning a tad more. meh, i dont know.

Also fun: potential mis-hearings of the lyrics (whatever the right ones may be). Par Example:

"lie like ice, release me from this stupid queen bee
help me to forget about the lines tracing me
if a man named gus has the notion he's a freak...."

    etc, etc

i think he's saying "sting of the queen bee"...just my input.

my play count is WAY too high for only having it for 24 hours.

I definitely think it's "sting of the queen bee" and the thing about "blinded in my youth"... definitely would make more sense. Idk, that's a tough one. And I totally agree with Malary about loving this song so much more now that I can read what I think to be is the lyrics. And just like everyone else... My play count is ridiculously high! It was at like 60 after the first few days, and that's not counting going back to try and figure out the lyrics. Love this song!

This is my life. It isn\'t much, but at least it\'s mine.

so, i just watched the newest "taking on the bear" video - and listened to the song a few more times, and have come to the conclusion that it's "sting of the queen bee" and "lightning in my youth" - but again, who knows..haha.

Pretty sure the last verse starts "It's summer in the city..." Not hearing thunder at all.

Guys, why no lyrics anywhere?? Seems like a link to the boards off of the website could be a good idea too...
