So I'm compiling a mix of my favorite songs for some SK rookie friends of mine who I am trying to get to go to the show in Birmingham next week. While I am trying to grab as many live versions as I can, a lot of the shows on archive.org are of somewhat poor sound quality and I only have a week to get as many folks as I can to the show. I first saw SK play in 2001 and haven't actually seen him since early 2006, so this should be fun. Anyway, here is what I have so far (although it's too early to tell if a lot of the Glassjaw songs will remain favorites)

    Anthem
    4th of July
    Such a Way
    Southern State of Mind
    Father's Day
    America Song
As Good as it Has Been
Why are you talking to me?
    Sun
    Glassjaw Boxer
    Days
    Pedal Steel
    Uninspired Gambling
    Big Easy

What would you put on such a disc to give to a few friends to get interested in going to the show and hopefully buying some discs? Any glaring omissions?

    Thanks!

That look like a decent list, I might add some of the older stiff ie "When She Leaves" and some of the new unreleased stuff "Satisfied Man" & "Wagon Wheel."
Here are a few links to clean sounding recordings.

Not to toot my own horn but if you download any of the shows I have taped over the past two years or so the quality is pretty decent. Particularly shows from the Iron Horse or Higher Ground. My early stuff before I got my AKG mics are crap stay away from them. :) Let me know if you need anything...

Claude's not lying, his shows are good. :D

I would definitely include a live version of Days. Anthem and See You Later, See You Soon I think should also 100% be on there. I agree with the Wagon Wheel and 4th Street Moon suggestions, as well. Otherwise, the list you got goin looks pretty good!

Thanks for the replies! TaperGeek I did grab a couple of songs from your shows, much better quality than some of the other stuff out there. If the Birmingham show was further away I would have tried to get more live versions but it's only a week from tonight and I'm trying to get people interested and rallied to go! Anyway, here is the final track list and people seem to love it so far.

    1. Anthem of Our Discovery
    2. Fourth of July
    3. Such a Way (live 4-23-06)
    4. Southern State of Mind
    5. Fathers Day
    6. American Song
    7. As Good as it Has Been
    8. Why Are You Talking to Me?
    9. Sun
    10. Glassjaw Boxer
    11. Days
    12. Pedal Steel
    13. Uninspired Gambling
    14. Flower in Rain remix
    15. If You Have to Go
    16. See You Later, See You Soon
    17. Footloose (live 9-9-05)
    18. Dear Chicago (live 10-8-05)

Wagon Wheel is a good cover but I wasn't really feeling it for the mix. It's one of those "you have to be there" songs to me.

    Thanks for the input.
