I have one for each show that I need to get rid of.

I bought them out of stupidity and wishful thinking... ?! I know the venue is tiny so I was scared and briefly thought about going.

Anyway, I don't think it's sold out so this is a long shot, but I figure I'd ask in case any of you wanted to buy from me for the same price instead of the venue just because!

I'm thinking about going to these, but haven't committed to them yet. Are they expected to sell out?

I attended the NYE '08/'09 show at JJ-it sold out, but not immediately, if I remember correctly. Small venue, but absolutley fantasic. I would assume that all 4 of these "special" shows will eventually sell-out. I'm going to the first 2 nights of this run in Hoboken. I just purchased by flights this week. Hopefully you can decide sooner than later, because there are some great deals on tickets right now if you're interested in flying. Sorry that you're unable to make it, Malary. Matt, are you going to try to tape these shows?? I'm definitly encouraging you to go out for them if thats's the case! ;)

If the first two shows weren't in Hoboken, I'd definitely do all 4 of them. But I've never been to the NYC area and I don't know if my nerves will allow me to journey that close (I don't fly, so I'd be driving by myself). Or is Hoboken not a hard place to get to? With the value of my gear, I just can't deal with subways or long walks down darkly-lit sidewalks.

As for the VA shows -- another band I follow is in Falls Church on Sunday, and these shows are a few days later. Assuming the other band I follow is going to announce other shows in the D.C./Baltimore/VA area (they always do) I was going to make it a week-long roadtrip. But the other band sucks at announcing their tourdates in a timely manner, so I don't want to commit to the Jammin' Java shows until I know I have something to do on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights.

Or maybe Hoboken is an easy drive after all? Is anybody familiar enough with that area to be able to convince me that it is do-able?

I've never been to Maxwell's but I've been to Hoboken. If I'm staying in Jersey, we'll drive to Hoboken and take the subway from there into the city. As long as you're not leaving your stuff unattended and visible in the car, you should be fine.
    Where are you driving from??

I'm from a little south of Cleveland. I just got concerned when I looked on their website and the parking lot they recommend is something like 10 blocks away (5 blocks north and 5 blocks west). I'm not a city person -- never been on a bus, a subway, a taxi, etc., and 10 blocks sounds like a long way to carry my gear.

Malary -- I'll go ahead and plan on doing the Vienna shows. E-mail me at mattmiller [at] mfire.com to work things out.

If it makes you feel more at ease, when I went to Vienna a few years back, I felt completely safe. I did take cabs from the airport to our hotel and to Jammin' Java, but it wasn't a hassle, and nothing bad happened (minus it being NYE and taking forever to get a cab back to said hotel). My friend and I walked a bit to grab lunch and dinner, and it was really non-eventful. I'm sure your experience will be different since you have equipment to carry, but I sincerely expect that you will have a great time and all will go according to plan.

I'm not concerned about Vienna -- it's the first two shows in Hoboken that I'm debating the wisdom of.

If everything goes as planned, you'll be able to download them afterward and hear what you missed.
