    Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the SK6ERS as I just discovered them on TRB IX.

I was wondering how you all describe the SK6ERS sound to those who are not familiar with them? I want to spread the word everybody asks me "what kind of music are they?". My usual response is "Good music" but I would like to add a bit to that and I'm not quite sure how to describe them to others. All I've come up with so far is "A young Blue Rodeo" which seems to get people interested but I'd really like to know what you all say.

    Thanks

they're kind of their own genre... i don't really know how to describe them either.

according to itunes, it says their genre is either rock, or country. so maybe a mix of folk rock? softer alternative rock? i dont know. i dont want to call them country though because i hate country and i obviously don't hate the sk6ers...

that little red caboose just starts to work that old smoke stack...

The SK6ers music? I would have to say blue collar music. Extremely hard working musicians who sing about real life situations. There hasn't been a band like them since Lynyrd Skynyrd. Or the best songwriter who ever lived!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my friends once said they sounded like "alternative country" and at first I didn't really like the label since I am not really into country, but he said that it was a good thing (he's a bit of a musical elitist if that makes sense to anyone) he said that he considers Ryan Adams to be alternative country and he pretty much worships the ground Ryan Adams walks on so it actually was a compliment. The label has actually grown on me as well.. so Alternative country-rock perhaps? Although your answer of "good music" fits perfectly as well :)

Allison - Your friend sounds hot! Is he single?! hahahaa.

Seriously though, I have to agree with him. I would probably call them alt-country as well. Now, I know that RA often gets lumped into that category, but I think that he's much more diverse than a single label. I think the Sixers are kind of this way too. They'll play you a ballad that breaks your heart and then rock your socks off in the next song. Anyway you label them, I'm pretty sure that you have to preface it with the best word to describe them, "FREAKIN' AWESOME!" :)

    XOXO, Kim
