How Much?

Have you guys heard of the companies like Pledgemusic that allow artists to make records based solely on fan contributions? In order to get donations, the bands offer incentives like free merchandise or performances. They usually start at $10 for a free copy of the CD when it is released all the way up to hundreds for things like private performances...whatever the band is willing to offer.

Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers have way too many songs I love to ever hope of hearing them all live. While I would love to hear them, they will always be pushed out by 4th of July and the like. My question then is how much would you guys pay to pick, for one show, the complete setlist? Start to finish, no questions asked, your songs. And which songs would you pick?

Antigone Rising did this for the new record "Red 23". I pledged, I forget-I think, $15 and I get the CD and the acoustic version via digital download. Pretty cool. They did everything from bowling and pizza to private shows (within a certain mi radus) and other cool stuff. Plus, if they didn't make their goal they get nothing and then obviously you get nothing.

i don't know how much i'd pay exactly... it all depends how much i can make work at the time. some months are a little more flex than others. ;) we'll say $100 for now, though.

and i cant make a setlist. too hard and i refuse to try unless it was actually to happen.

that little red caboose just starts to work that old smoke stack...

Ingram Hill is doing this for their next album. I had never heard of it and thought it was a pretty cool idea? Although I think I would feel weird as an artist asking fans for money to make a record. I'm kind of torn on the idea. Although I'm sure it makes it easier for the band not having to worry about companies and who is giving money, since it is just coming from the fans.

I can't think of a creative answer for your second question, but man that would be cool. Not sure if I could afford it, but just the idea of it is pretty sweet to think about.

The Lighthouse and the Whaler just did it for their new album and I think it's a great idea. I think the incentives are usually worth more than what people would actually get from buying the album after it is produced.

My friend also pledged for an X-Files musical that we will now be road tripping to see in Nebraska in August....she got 2 tickets and a DVD of the production.

Steve Moakler just starting doing kickstarter about 2 1/2 weeks ago. I ponied up $100. I'm gonna get a phone call. name in the liner notes, various footage and photos, demos, and a bunch of signed stuff. It's so cool to be able to help out artists you believe in that don't have solid financial means.

I love Steve Moakler! I'm also a parachute! And that was the first time I've ever heard about such a thing too. Such a great idea to help out our favorite artists.

And honestly, this would be the hardest setlist to pick. But I'd probably put up a few hundred to be able to pick them out myself with a few friends. That'd be awesome!

This is my life. It isn\'t much, but at least it\'s mine.

Yeah I was there! It was a great show!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. For some reason, my computer hasn't allowed me to open up this site, so I thought it was taken down.
