Hey just wondering if anyone is still a fan from way back 1997...the guys have a new album THE WALK which is just amazing! I know it's tough but try and break that stereotype you have the them and take the music for what it is...simply amazing. They are on tour now so if you get a chance why not check them out?

Never liked the MMBOP shit, but the new stuff since post 2000 is quite good. I've been listening to Penny and Me alot lately...killer song. They have definitely come a LONG LONG way!

i acquired several free copies of their album Underneath, released a few years ago...and i was impressed! i especially love the first track, Strong Enough to Break

if I retrace my footsteps it was actually Hanson who led me to the Sixers.
they have always been such a real band, and it's really a shame that they were looked at as if they were a gimmick. people have such an immature point of view on their music, which I find really frustrating. but they keep on putting out great records, eventually people are gonna have to face the fact that they are musicians.... and they're good.Posted 4 years ago on August 2, 2007 LINK -
BUt I mean, MMBop??? I like Hanson now and all, but MMBop was right there in the middle of Backass Boys and N*suck and it's just hard not to confuse that song with all of the shitty music. But I will defend their new stuff to the end!

Fan since 1997. Kinda closeted and going to their shows is a little stressful (but I continue to do so) because the fans are insane. They are a great band and have really made great music. "Strong Enough to Break" is my favorite Hanson song, lots of the stuff on Underneath was phenomenal. "Been There Before" is a MUST listen on the new album, if you are going to listen to something from The Walk, that needs to be it. If you get a chance, I highly suggest watching their documentary "Strong Enough To Break." Its about their challenge with the record company to make their album, and how that ultimately led to them starting their own record label. You can get it as a podcast on iTunes. They played it at colleges all thoughout 2005 and gave away free copies of their CD "Underneath" at every showing to everyone. I vowed to never write this much about Hanson on a board, but oh well. It needs to be said.

A few summers ago it was my turn to escort my little sister to her Hanson show. I was pretty impressed too.
They also came to my school and didn't perform while we ate brunch in the cafeteria because they were saving their voices for their "real" show that night, so a bunch of people (me included) who are even fans protested at the radio station where they were being interviewed because we had nothing better to do and it was my favorite day of college ever. There were bears and digeridoos! True story.

i like the guys too. tho, i haven't seen them live yet. their doc for underneath was awesome. it's funny. i can think of a couple of artists that should watch that doc and learn from it. oh, i also love that they decided to chronicle "the walk" for video podcasts as well.

<3 the Walk, an amazing album!!!Posted 4 years ago on August 13, 2007 LINK -
these guys are going to blow up soon. the chicago "alternative" station, Q101, played the new single ("great divide") throughout the month of august, but kept referring to them as the "mystery band", and finally announced who it was last friday. their reasoning, which is genius in my mind, was to give listeners the chance to like the song without any preconceived notions knowing up front that it was the band responsible for "mmmbop". once they announced it, they had hanson call in to talk about it, and every single DJ that works at Q101 was on with them.
i saw them in november of '05 at the house of blues in chicago (i'm a huge pat mcgee band fan, they were opening for hanson) and was blown away. they've come a long way in the last 10 years.

This is sad news
TMZ has learned that Isaac Hanson, the eldest of the family trio of the band Hanson, has been hospitalized suffering from a pulmonary embolism, thus postponing their concert in Tulsa tonight.
As the Tulsa World first reported, tonight's show "is definitely canceled." The paper spoke with Ken Philips, the band's publicist, who said Isaac was admitted to the hospital earlier today with severe shoulder and chest pain. "This could be serious, but nobody knows just yet," and added, "We are hoping for the best."
A pulmonary embolism is a serious condition. Blood clots travel to the lungs and can result in death if not treated immediately. Isaac has been hospitalized for this condition before.
Hanson, the family band that drove the kids crazy with the hit "MMMBop," is from Tulsa.

OK PEOPLE! I was minding my own business watching the newest Hanson DVD (MONA) and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, they randomly zoom in on some girl's chest wearing a Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers shirt!! Is it one of you fine people? That's some awesome promotion right there!! They show it right after they get done playing MMMBop. Nice job, whoever it was!

I noticed the SK6ers shirt in MONA! That's awesome.

So, a few little birdies told me that some other little birdies ::cough::bootsandstephen::cough:: told them that SK6ers will be opening for Hanson on the next leg of The Walk Tour.
I heard this rumor back in October or November, but then it kind of died down. If I thought there was any truth to it, I would've asked Stephen myself the other night. Personally, I don't think it'd be a great idea... Hanson fans are a little, um, nuts? And SK6ers fans are so chill. Not a good mix! Haha.
--ChrissyPosted 4 years ago on January 1, 2008 LINK -
WORST IDEA ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH.
~ JenPosted 4 years ago on January 2, 2008 LINK -
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. Haha. They're my two favorite bands in the world... but I definitely don't think it would be a good mix to have them (and their fans) together.
--ChrissyPosted 4 years ago on January 2, 2008 LINK -
Pat McGee told me a couple years ago that the Sixers were supposed to open for Hanson on the Live&Electric Tour but as it worked out PMB ended up with the gig.... so maybe they're going back for another shot?
I personally hope that it doesn't happen.
Hanson fans will ruin SK6 concerts for eternity.
but at the same time, opening for Hanson is a great opportunity for any band. you're guaranteed to make some cash and loyal fans.I'm not opposed to them having a larger audience, I just can't stand the thought of having to elbow my way to the stage at a show, or having the girl next to me screaming in my ear though Such A Way.

Exactly.
I don't know about you guys, but I've been to twenty-two Hanson shows... and I've seen the way fans act towards the openers. They will squeal and scream just because the band on stage is opening for Hanson. Their opening acts become "trends" to Hanson fans. For example, back in 2004, Ingram Hill opened for them... and they were all the rave! But once 2005 hit and the Pat McGee Band started opening, Ingram Hill was old news. And now... Ingram Hill and Pat McGee who? Now it's all about Locksley.
The Sixers will definitely make some fans if they open for Hanson... but the majority of them probably won't stick around once the next opening band comes about.
--ChrissyPosted 4 years ago on January 2, 2008 LINK -
Well, I for one, think it would be a great opportunity. The Hanson guys have said that their opening bands always say months after the opening gig that they feel like they've gotten more fans from opening for Hanson then any other band. I'm all for it if it's true...they will know what they're getting into. I'll keep my finger crossed for this to actually happen.

Laura made me realize my true feelings. I've been trying to be all pro-Hanson these days. I even listened to them on youtube! (wow!) And they definitely are not bad. But then when I heard this news, I immedietely regressed to my ten year old self and thought "nooo, they're icky little girls with long hair!" Who am I kidding, I can never change. I wonder what the Sixers think? WWTSD?
Oh, and I totes know they look like hot men with short hair now, so sorry in advance.
-- LaurenPosted 4 years ago on January 2, 2008 LINK -
i think hanson fans would be good for the sixers.
and i read WWTSD and i couldnt stop laughing. haha

I really think Hanson and SK6ers touring together is kinda a double edged sword.
On one hand, it'll be great for SK6ers because if Hanson fans are anything they're loyal. And they actually care about opening acts. So, if SK6ers get fans out of this (which I'm about 99.999% sure they will) the fans are fiercely loyal and passionate.
On the other hand these are still Hanson fans. And a lot of them are crazy. It makes me sad that after this, there will be Hanson fans at most of the SK6ers shows I go to. It's part of the reason I wanted to go to the Iowa show last night (I'm in Madison, WI) One last show before the crazyness starts.
For example, the band that toured with them on the last leg of this tour, Locksley, got more out of the tour then Hanson did. In fact a girl went up to one of the guys in Hanson and was talking only about how great Locksley was. Ha. I was talking to their sound/tech manager and the guys of Hanson were a little miffed by how well Locksley did.
So keep that in mind. This is a good thing for SK6ers, whether you like Hanson or not. It's great exposure for them.
(psst...and frankly as much as I love Hanson...I'm more excited to see SK6ers again
shh!!)
