Anyone else in IL get slammed by that storm on thursday. a tornado touched down in my town and a the next town over. um...who knew that a suburb 20 min outside of chicago can get tornados. not me. lol. anyways, just got my power and cable back this morning after it went out thursday afternoon. my desktop is DEAD. it wont reboot, who knows what happened there. just got my mac book until i figure that situation out. other then that minimal water damage in the basement. no too bad.

yeah our power went out for just a bit (i'm from arlington heights) but then within literally a minute went back on but it wasn't until a few days later where every place around lost power...my high school lost power and so we got a 3 day weekend on the first weekend of school..now thats what i call a good start to senior year haha

I was too far south to get hit by the storm. I think my town is about right where it stopped and was right above us... but I have been in Chicago and the suburbs all weekend.

That's scary...glad to hear everyone is safe, though.

Losing power is terrible! When those storms rolled through Indiana on Thursday/Friday, we lost power for a while. Although nothing like what you experienced, it is still annoying. Ick... Glad to hear that you're okay--hope your desktop comes back to life!

i'm working in a trailer on a construction site in Elk Grove Village right now - when that massive line of storms came through last week, it got a little tense here. i drove through Arlington Heights this weekend on my way home to Palatine - all the traffic lights were still out Saturday afternoon, it was not fun. today makes the second day in a row that it has been sunny and not raining, i think that's a winning streak.

Yeaah, this insane weather the midwest is getting can quit at anytime. After the 10th straight day of raining I am kind of starting to feel like I live in Seattle. Which I wouldn't mind living in....but I live in Wisconsin.

Power outages suck. I've had a few lately due to the weather, but they haven't been for more than 30 mintues at a time.

central il thankfully didn't get hit too hard... just a bunch of rain and some strong winds... not much else though. my sister lives on the north end of chicago and she got hit really hard with 70 mph wind gusts, lightning strikes, downed trees, etc. but it all looks much better for us corn fielders now.

I saw that the traffic light coming into town from Decatur was broken in Bloomington...and that's about all the damage I saw despite being in the Chicago suburbs and Chicago all weekend.

bloomington got hit harder than peoria did, no doubt about it. i was in champaign last monday night (the 20th) for a matt wertz/eliot morris show and i got absolutely soaked walking across campus from my car to where the show was at. the dye from my jeans stained my favorite shoes beyond repair.

Yea your desktop could be shot. Lightning can do some crazy things. I work at a yacht club...and a big storm rolled in a few days ago...lightning struck a boat and one guy has over $50,000 of damage done to his electronics. I hope the best for your comp.
