So I can't contain myself and I'm so excited I finally have this album. Picking a favorite is damn hard. "My Favorite Place" is possibly the best song I've ever heard off any album by any artist, because I can relate to it so much and there's so much emotion in it. But if that was out of the question "Song For Lovers" is currently on repeat, with "Noelle, Noelle" on deck 2nd (possibly just because she has the same birthday as me?)

    What's yours?

I JUST listened to the vinyl all the way through for the first time. I have to say that tonight, Song For Lovers is my favorite. I'm sure this will change tomorrow. I can't remember the last time I fell in love with an album instantaneously. Holy crap, this is good.

I think Watch You Grow is my favorite, as well as Who We Are, Who We'll Become. Honorable mention to Long Days, Fast Years.

Charlie and Annie has that rock vibe I like. My Favorite Place also hits me hard because it's so true. Song for Lovers is great, too. You know, SK references a lot of Catholic imagery in his songs ("like St. Augustine before me I am sorry for my sins") so it's surprising to hear he's not religious.

Edit - I love all of his albums but this one seems to be the complete package. Not since Lucky Eleven has every song been a hit.

Ashley, how can you ask such a question? You know that I can't make decisions like this!

I have to agree with Marissa because those are my four favorites, except today's favorite is Charlie and Annie...probably because I just watched "The Accident" video. I am so madly in love with this whole album. I cannot wait until Thursday to see them again!

Long Days, Fast Years, My Favorite Place, Who We Are, Who We Will Become- definitely my top 3 so far. I've had it on constant rotation over the past several weeks and I just love this album.

MarMar, are we going to have to start a countdown for how soon after today you go postal if you don't get your preorder?

I've had the album for a week now because Cousin Jess is awesome and agreed to sell copies at the C'ville show! So after a week, all of the songs are starting to flow together for me now, but in the best way possible. I think that's really a sign of a cohesive album, I get one song in my head and then that triggers another and another, etc.

Song for Lovers has the most beautiful lyrics and guitar. But I basically replay My Favorite Place and Roots and Wings over and over again.

    HA ditto!

Today I'm feeling very strongly about My Favorite Place and Watch You Grow...but I've only been listening to the vinyl so I'm downloading the digital versions right now...and I am excited to hear the remixed Long Days, Fast Years that didn't make it onto the vinyl.

The new album is seriously awesome! Holy cow it's good.

The obvious choice for me is My Favorite Place. It is a perfect song. It seriously brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it (and I'm a guy!)

Who We Are, Who We'll Become and Noelle, Noelle are both runner-ups.

Roots and Wings is pretty amazing too. I was at the Milwaukee show with my mom and it made her cry.

Anyone wish 1993 was the acoustic version played on the solo tour instead of the album version? I still love the song, but it went from being a cute love song to an upbeat, slightly ?childish? love song. It's still amazing, but I find myself listening to the YouTube videos of the acoustic version more than the album version.

^I'm with you on that, for sure.

For me, it's the only song on the album that reminds me that I'm listening to a cd. It kills the vibe of the album...i skip over it most of the time, or I lower the volume so no one else can hear it cause its so corny lol. I do like the live version though.

OK so I tweeted this a little bit ago this morning, and it is so true: it somehow always happens that the sk6ers records that are released coincide with what is going on in my life at that exact moment..magic.

i would have to say who we are, who we'll become, long days fast years, roots & wings, noelle, noelle and my favorite place are my top picks. SO GOOD. AND SO RELEVANT.

i effin' love these guys. I don't know just how I'll make it to Thanksgiving shows without seeing them before. Yikes.

I must say "Long Days, Fast Years" may be over taking "Who We Are, Who We Will Become" on my list. I think it's Bear's addition to the track. Love IT!

That's funny because I was just about to post a comment saying how after a re-listen today (I've been forcing myself not to listen to the CD too much in fear of getting sick of it), Who We Are is standing out to me as an all-time SK best.

But in all seriousness people, is this one of the best SK6ERS albums of all time? I get the impression that the Bear wasn't up to our expectations (which I would agree with), but I haven't heard negative things about this album aside from stupid accusations of stealing music from other artists (Gravity and 1993). I may be on my usual post-SK concert high, but this album brings out so much emotion in me. The love songs give me chills, the meaningful songs make me tear up, and the upbeat songs make me get a huge smile. You know an album is great when you don't even consider skipping over your least favorite song. An album with Watch You Grow as a least favorite song....is one hell of an album.

I don't have the CD yet and have only heard about half of the songs, but what stands out to me is that I don't like the CD version of Roots and Wings as well as I liked the version that Stephen unveiled during the solo tour.

Can someone tell me what Charlie & Annie is about? I love the song but I'd like to understand it a bit better!

It seems to me that the story of Charlie & Annie is being told from the point of view of Charlie and Annie's kid.

They played Charlie and Annie at Sixertown last week and he mentioned something to the effect of it being about his grandmother (of See Yourself fame) and her brother who was a drinker and a musician who left his family. He said it originally had seven verses and that by the time they had cut it down and changed it up, it became about more people they all knew.

Okay, so I've had the album for two weeks now and am able to voice my opinions with a bit more confidence. I think My Favorite Place may have the ability to conjure up more emotion in me than any song in the history of ever (and it looks like I'm not alone in that line of thinking). But the song I listen to the most, hands down is We Belong Here, quite possibly because it's the only song I haven't seen live...yet.

Hm, I assumed Charlie and Annie were Stephen's parents...it fit with the theme of his dad not really being there for him. Interesting to hear its about his grandparents.

@Matt: I thought the same thing at first (assuming you're talking about the version he added in Milwaukee) but once I went back and watched a video of it, after hearing the album version, I thought it sounds strange (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43GO43_sxVY). Maybe it is the lack of chorus or just the forced delivery without any strong rhythm, but it sounds off. I didn't realize that lyrically it is the exact same though.

took me a while, but i've decided my favorite song is We Belong Here. It actually is now tied with Days and The America Song as my favorite SIXERS songs of all time.
