In the Anthology is says 4th Street Moon was written on 4th Street in a small Iowa town. The only show listed in a small Iowa town with a venue near a 4th Street is Cedar Falls (although it's big for Iowa - so I am excluding Des Moines). Since the song was published in 2005 I'm assuming it was written during or right after their show at the Reverb or Pour Richards in Cedar Falls in late 2003/early 2004. If anyone can get me a definitive answer I will give them 10 extra bonus points!!

I actually wondered this back when I got the anthology considering 4th Street Moon is one of my favorite songs and I live in Iowa (and go to school in Cedar Falls). I know where 4th Street is here but I unfortunately can't find the show archive anymore with the new site. And I have only listened to SK for about 2 years, so I have no clue where he played that long ago. What I do know, however, is that the HuB, a venue they've played 2 times in the past 2 years, is located on 4th St. Unfortunately, I have no idea how long that venue has been here, it just has been as long as I've been in college. Reverb is located 2 blocks North on 2nd street and could still be plausible as well. I don't think Pour Richards exists anymore...
I know this isn't very helpful, I just thought I would chip in. I'm sure I could be of more help if I could find the show archive.

Perfect! Thanks! The one I remember just had a list of every show without setlists, but that works perfectly!
According to the setlists, he first played in Iowa at Pour Richards in Cedar Rapids. Unfortunately, I think that place is closed because I can't find anything about it online. I would doubt it would be there, though, considering Cedar Rapids is a pretty big Iowa town and 4th St. in Cedar Rapids is in the heart of downtown; the busiest part of the city.
Then he played at Keysters in Des Moines. This likely isn't it considering Des Moines is big and the club is located on 100th St...a ways from 4th. That would be a pretty hefty 96 block walk.
Then he played the Reverb in Cedar Falls. I would bet a ton of money this is it. It is located on Main St, a block and half from 4th St. Cedar Falls is a shitty town that has a big university population, but the Main St. area looks like a 1950's small-town community. I couldn't imagine him writing this song on 100th St. Des Moines or downtown Cedar Rapids, but I could definitely see it being written at the intersection of 4th and Main in Cedar Falls.
Then he played the song at a show in early 2005...meaning he had to of already written the song which would narrow it down to those three. Of the two you said, I would bet it is the Reverb. But I have no definitive answer, just ideas.

This is like an SK6ers version of Clue.

Yes, The Reverb is correct. (The "old" Reverb near 4th and Main, of course...they've moved to a different location within the past few years.) SK also mentioned that it was written in Cedar Falls at the acoustic show during Field Day/Weekend this summer.
